One of the most asked questions I get about our Ideal Protein Protocol is- “Where do I go out to eat and what should I get?”
This blog is an answer to that question. I will be posting reviews with links to menus of local places around Tulsa. Eating at home and cooking your own meals is the best way to control your diet. But we live in a society where we eat out frequently with family, friends, and because of the hectic-ness of our schedules.
It goes without saying that drinking water, coffee or teas is all that we recommend for Phase 1 at all the restaurants that we will be reviewing.
The first review is to one of my favorites, not just because of the great mixed veggies but because of the $6 half pound burger on Monday’s.
The Brook has two locations in town, one around 33rd and Peoria and one around 91st and Memorial.

That being said you will need to bring your willpower (no chili or cheese) but the generous portions of salads (without cheese or croutons) and veggies will satisfy even the biggest appetite. And since they are half-pound burgers it will complete the 8 oz protein requirement for Phase 1.
If you would like to try some of their salads be careful of the added cheeses, dressings, nuts, tortilla strips, etc. Best to go with a dinner salad. The lo carb salad is high is calories and fat, so even though the name sounds good, it is one to pass on in Phase 1.
They also have fajitas which are a much higher fat choice and again, you need to avoid, cheese, tortillas, sour cream, guacamole and tortillas. So I would stick to the grilled burger with veggies.
It is a neighborhood place that is fun even if a bit loud at times. But dinner for 2 less than $20 including tip makes is a great choice.
Hope this helps! Watch for other great local restaurants coming soon!
